Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience in acute care, emergency room, or ambulatory setting
• Strong collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for diverse emergency room patients
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse, ensuring patient safety and effective care delivery
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management
• Safely administer medications and treatments per hospital policy
• Participate in shared governance, quality improvement, and peer review initiatives
• Mentor and support new employees and nursing students
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory and professional nursing standards
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties as assigned
