Job Summary:
As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will provide professional nursing care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), utilizing the nursing process according to established standards of care. You will embody the values of our organization and demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic environment while delivering quality care.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Uphold policies and legal regulations, serving as a leader by delegating tasks and demonstrating accountability.
Understand the scope of practice for yourself and team members and escalate issues as needed.
Guide and mentor colleagues in patient care, fostering a supportive and professional atmosphere.
Participate in problem identification and resolution to enhance team effectiveness.
Nursing Process:
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Monitor patient progress and revise care plans based on ongoing assessments.
Educate patients and families about care plans, ensuring clarity and understanding.
Ensure safety through meticulous medication administration and patient monitoring.
Documentation:
Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation that reflects nursing interventions and patient outcomes.
Utilize electronic systems for efficient patient care tracking.
Clinical Outcomes:
Engage with healthcare teams to review patient findings and progress toward treatment goals.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance care quality.
Workplace Safety:
Adhere to safety principles and maintain a secure environment for patients and staff.
Patient Care Experience:
Deliver exceptional customer service, promptly responding to patient requests while ensuring confidentiality and respect.
Engage with patients and families to identify needs and facilitate care.
Team Commitment:
Collaborate effectively within the team, offering support and guidance to peers.
Participate in developing educational plans to meet unit needs.
Fiscal Responsibility:
Manage work to minimize overtime and optimize resource use.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum one (1) year of recent experience in PICU or completion of an approved PICU course.
Education:
N/A
Licenses and Certifications:
Registered Nurse License (California), Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, and ONS Provider Certification (or Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certification) within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Certified Pediatric Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) preferred.
