Job Summary

Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.

Qualifications

• Education
• ·         Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• ·         Associate’s degree in Nursing.
• ·         Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.
• Experience
• ·         One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration
• ·        Registered Nurse, State of CT
• ·        Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ·        Additional certifications may be required in specific specialties
• Language Skills
• Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.
• Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
• ·         Applies the principles and practices of nursing.
• ·         Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
• ·         Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care.
• ·         Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time.
• ·         Knowledge of high reliability.
• ·         Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.
• ·         Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
• ·         Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.
• ·         Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
• ·         Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.
• ·         Self-directed in clinical responsibilities.
• ·         Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities.
• ·        Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs.
• Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and changes are implemented.
