Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele role requiring a NY license and strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and Epic charting.

Responsibilities

• Position is within the Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit in a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary fibrosis, and ILD
• Nurses manage Amiodarone drips, ventilators, chest tubes, and other advanced equipment
• Evening nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 5:1 (may stretch 6-7:1); night ratios are 6-7:1 (may stretch 8-9:1)
• Support staff includes PCTs for vitals, glucose checks, EKGs, and phlebotomy team for peripheral lab draws
• Expected to work four 12-hour night shifts (7:00 pm – 7:00 am) with every other weekend required
• Floating within scope is required
• Call requirements as needed
• Epic EMR experience is highly preferred and required for first time US travelers
• Nursing duties include insulin drip titration, pre/post hemodialysis management, trach and ventilator care, substance withdrawal care, and wound management
• Collaborate with rapid response team and participate in rapid response team activations
• Orientation includes 4 hours of classroom training with an educator and unit-based orientation for the remainder of the shift, plus online modules prior to starting
• Navy blue or white scrubs are required
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Return staff must have at least a 1 year gap before reapplying
• Keep request for time off (RTO) to no more than one week

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 1 year recent MS/Tele acute care RN experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin, cardiac drips, wound care, central and peripheral lines
• Epic EMR experience required for first-time US travelers
• No candidates who live within 75 miles of the facility will be considered
• Pending licenses not accepted
