Job Overview

This Cardiac Telemetry unit serves adult medical-surgical patients with primary or secondary cardiac diagnoses. Nurses will manage telemetry monitoring and care for stable post-cardiac cath, stroke, and TIA patients. Remote telemetry via Hicuity system is used.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum Experience: 1 year in Telemetry
• Patient Ratio: 1:5–6
• Charting System: Any – required
• Travel Experience: Required

Certifications

• Required:
  • BLS (AHA only)
• Preferred:
  • CPI (Calm Every Storm – may be required for compliance)

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients
• Primary/Secondary Cardiac diagnoses
• Stroke / TIA
• Stable Cardiac Catheterization patients

Key Clinical Skills

Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:

• Dysrhythmia interpretation
• Dysrhythmia management
• Use of Rapid Response / Code Teams

IV Therapy & Lines:

• Peripheral line care/management
• Phlebotomy

Respiratory Support:

• Nasal cannula
• Oxygen tanks
• Non-invasive airway management

Professional Skills:

• Isolation precautions

• Orientation: 48 hours (non-billable)
