Certified Medical Assistant
ProSidian Consulting Services Firm is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for a Contract Contingent or Contract W-2 position. This role is aligned under services related to Project/Program Support and is located CONUS - NVA DC/MD/VA | DOE-Germantown across the Mid Atlantic Region supporting the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This role operates in a highly regulated environment focused on energy policy, nuclear security, and environmental management.
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will provide services and support as a Personal Assistance Services (PAS) (Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)) in the Energy, Resources, and Industrials Industry Sector focusing on Human Capital Solutions for clients such as DOE. The primary responsibilities involve aiding employees in performing daily living activities that they would typically handle independently if they did not have a disability. These services include assistance with dressing, eating, using the restroom, and mobility support such as pushing wheelchairs or helping with vehicle transfers. In addition, CNAs may also provide specialized support like reader services, sighted guidance, and scheduling assistance to ensure that employees with disabilities can fully concentrate on their duties and responsibilities while at work.
In the functional area of Human Capital (HC) Reasonable Accommodations, CNAs are responsible for ensuring that the PAS provided aligns with federal regulations, including the ADA and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. They must maintain a high level of professionalism, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity to the specific needs of each employee. CNAs are expected to be proficient in using assistive technologies and to provide guidance and training to employees on their use when necessary. Their duties also include coordinating with the DOE's Human Capital team and other relevant departments to address any emerging needs promptly, whether on-site at DOE locations in Washington, DC, and Germantown, MD, or at the employee's telework location. This role requires not only technical medical skills but also a deep commitment to the well-being and success of the employees they support, ensuring that they can perform their roles without hindrance due to their disabilities.
Qualifications
The minimum standard qualifications for the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) include:
Certification: Must have completed a state-approved nursing assistant training program and hold a current CNA certification.
Education: Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with completion of a state-approved Certified Nurse Assistant program.
Required experience includes:
Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in roles involving direct patient care, such as in nursing homes, hospitals, or home health care.
Required technical skills include:
Clinical proficiency in assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
Technical competence in using basic medical equipment and understanding patient care protocols.
Basic understanding of assistive technologies used by patients with disabilities, and ability to assist in their use.
Required communication skills include:
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effectively communicating with patients, their families, team members, and healthcare professionals.
Interpersonal skills to interact compassionately and respectfully with patients, understanding their needs and ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for.
Required project management skills include:
Basic project management experience in managing patient care tasks, such as scheduling and ensuring timely completion of daily care routines.
Required leadership abilities include:
Leadership qualities for decision-making, problem-solving, and mentoring less experienced CNAs.
Team collaboration skills to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, providing support to nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Commitment to continuing education is crucial due to the evolving nature of healthcare practices and patient care standards.
Employees are subject to regulatory and mandatory training requirements. These requirements will change for individuals based on their job duties or position assignment.
Standard skills required include proficiency in project management methodologies, exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, outstanding time management, adaptability, multitasking, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Core Competencies
Teamwork, leadership, business acumen, communication, motivation, agility, judgment, and organization are essential competencies for this role.
Other Requirements
The ideal candidate should have understanding and proficiency with business tools and technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, and Visio. Commitment to work with diverse teams, curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn and grow are also required.
