Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position in a Level 1 trauma center requiring strong vascular and orthopedic skills with day shift and call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 14-room Operating Room unit within a Level 1 trauma center
• Handles a wide range of specialties, including vascular, heavy ortho, general, urology, robotic, neuro, some eyes, endo/lap, podiatry, thoracic, and adolescent cases
• No cardiac or transplant surgeries performed
• Day shift schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm
• Call is required
• EMR used: Epic experience preferred
• Responsible for circulating and scrubbing on a range of complex OR cases, with frequent vascular and orthopedic procedures
• No local candidates accepted within certain counties or within a 50-mile radius
• Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible as travelers
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be approved; no time off allowed during the first week of orientation
• Modules completed onsite during orientation and are mandatory

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
• Previous travel nurse experience required
• Robust experience in vascular, orthopedic, general, neuro, and urology cases required
• Experience with trauma and aseptic technique required
• Endo/lap and pediatric/adolescent surgery experience preferred
