Senior Software Engineer

Microsoft Silicon Engineering Solutions and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team develops and delivers the hardware and firmware powering Microsofts Intelligent Cloud mission. SCHIE delivers core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's 200+ online businesses including Bing, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Azure platform globally.
The Azure Hardware Key Management Service (HKMS) team, part of SWFW COE, works closely with product groups, industry partners, and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership.
We are looking for a

Senior Software Engineer

to design and develop highly scalable, reliable, and world?class cloud?based services that harvest, issue, and authenticate hardware identities of root?of?trust devices for datacenter cloud servers, track device lifecycle, enable firmware security features, and improve reliability and security throughout the hardware lifecycle. You will also collaborate with Microsoft partner suppliers on HW certificate provisioning processes.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, support, test, and maintain global and regional microservices, control plane services, and client tools.
Participate in on?call rotations, live?site activities, and customer issue intake processes.
Define and measure service level indicators and lead the design of solutions that ensure measurable performance against SLIs and KPIs.
Produce high?quality code that is unit tested, reviewed, and integrated regularly into CI/CD pipelines.
Work closely with Microsofts major Cloud Server hardware suppliers for onboarding and maintenance of the hardware?certificate provisioning process.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, .Net framework, or Python.
OR equivalent experience.

Experience designing and developing cloud?based services or microservices.

Other Requirements

Must meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check, which must be passed upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of professional experience designing, developing, or maintaining software solutions.
Solid knowledge and hands?on experience with C#, .Net framework, Java, or C++.
Proficient problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge in software security, digital asset security, cryptography, X509 certificates, and digital signing.
Experience with Web API services infrastructure (HTTP, HTTP/2, RESTful, Swagger) and microservices.
Familiarity with Azure services such as storage, networking, Service Fabric, Cosmos DB, and Event Hubs is a plus.

Software Engineering IC4 Typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 $234,700 per year. Specific location ranges may vary.
