Job Description

• American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring WI or compact license
• ICU background
• and telemetry testing.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 12-bed, recently renovated neuroscience ICU in a hospital setting
• Care for adult neurology, neurosurgical, and stroke patients, including ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, TBI, hydrocephalus, cerebral aneurysm, and other neurovascular diseases
• Required to care for both ICU and IMC level patients
• Night shift, 12 hour shiftswith every other weekend and some holidays required
• Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations as needed
• Vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, feeding tubes, drains, and frequent assessments involved
• Telemetry and basic arrhythmia monitoring required; must pass telemetry exam prior to start
• Provide nursing care including complex neurocritical interventions, critical thinking, and assessment
• Work as part of a dynamic and supportive team within a nationally recognized neuroscience program
• Participation in hospital orientation required, typically one week depending on department schedule
• First-time travelers may be accepted for this assignment
• Holiday and weekend rotations are required
• RTO requests are reviewed by management, with a general limit of two weeks off per contract
• No local candidates accepted per facility rules

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• Minimum two years of recent acute care RN experience within the last three years in ICU setting
• Basic arrhythmia recognition and ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience preferred
• Must pass pre-employment telemetry exam with strict criteria; two attempts allowed
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility location
