03114 RN - Med/Surg This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. Reports to: Department Director FLSA: Non-exempt Education: Associate's Degree Nursing (ADN) Required; Bachelor's Degree Nursing (BSN) Preferred License: Current Registered Nurse to practice/work in the state of TX Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; Required Skills Ability to understand, communicate, and react effectively to patient and family needs Critical thinking Work well under pressure while keeping calm and maintaining customer focus Essential Functions

• Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs
• Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients
• Develops individual nursing care plans
• Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed
• Evaluates patient care outcomes
• Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees
• Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
• Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care.
• Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to condition.
• Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given.Nonessential Functions
• Maintains facility equipment, supplies and work areas.
