Job Description

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assist medical personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exams in the allotted time.
• Conducts portable ultrasound exams and complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
• Assists physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures such as biopsies.
• Evaluates technical quality of images and processes them in accordance with standard procedures.
• Maintains accurate records of ultrasound exams and performs equipment maintenance.
• Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
• Adheres to safety and infection control protocols.
• Addresses the needs of the patient population served, communicating clearly according to their level of understanding.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be R.D.M.S. registered - Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
• Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School with 2 years training in Allied Health/College.
• Knowledge of ultrasound equipment operation and emergency procedures.
• Ability to maintain CEU credits and perform CPR.
• Preferred: 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound.
